We do not find the meaning of life by ourselves alone -- we find it with another. We do not discover the secret of our lives merely by study and calculation in our own isolated meditations. The meaning of our life is a secret that has to be revealed to us in love, by the one we love. ~Thomas Merton, Love and Living
My inspiration was the painting, Mariana in the South by John William Waterhouse. The painting, in turn, was inspired by Tennyson's poem of the same name. Mariana is breathtaking and we are taken by her beauty. Yet her surroundings fall under a dark shadow, as one sees our world after a loss. How can the world go on without them? "Her tears fell with the dews at even / Her tears fell ere the dews were dried."
Something must be done about this.
Practical Magic: This is a talisman of self-acceptance and healthy self-love. There is so much to like here: The moon is strong and full of light, conjunct Jupiter in Taurus - bringing expansive Jovian goodness. Luna is accepted and honored in Venus's home, while Venus is in her own day sign of Libra and in the Moon's house of joy. A light shines in at the door -- Open it! The heart is full and that compassion moves out into wider and wider circles. The butcher, the baker, and the candlestick maker are all touched by her goodness.
Not As Good For: This is not a love talisman, at least not directly. The moon is changeable and inconstant, and reflective. But it does set the stage by opening the bearer up to love, and to healing from the inside out, reflecting that light to all who see her. The world reflects the soul.
Losses, break-ups, the endless saturnine circle of 'death by a thousand cuts' wears us down, and we lose ourself in all the ought tos. Luna and such moon activities, objects, mellifluous music, comfort food all mother strengthen and nourish us, and bringing us back to ourselves.
It is the Moon that gives us life, prana, nourishes, and heals....The Moon overcomes the negative aspects of Saturn, softens the hardness, nourishes the depleted, heals the sick, and makes the prana flow where Saturn blocks it... Note that this is talking about energies of the planets and not conjunctions of those planets. ~Freedom Cole
Venus stands before the mirror of the moon
I wish I were your mirror so that you always looked at me.
I wish I were your garment so that you would always wear me.
I wish I were the water that washes your body.
